2021.12.01 17:47 CodingMasterUK Strange Scroll Custom Restore Behaviour

Hi All,
I have a simple blog feed setup where a user can navigate between 2 routed components. One being a blog feed and the other being a blog post. Users can access the blog post links from the feed. The feed is setup to use a RouteResureStrategy.
Route1: /feed
Route2: /blog/:id
I'm using a router events subscription to restore the scrollToPosition of the feed (Route1) when the back button is pressed after viewing a blog post (Route2).
To explain the strange behaviour:

  1. User loads the feed (Route1)
  2. User scrolls 1000px down for example
  3. User clicks a blog link (Route2) and the blog page/component loads (blog component happens to be 300px in hight when rendered)
  4. User click the back button
  5. The feed scroll position is restored but is roughly 1000px less the height of the blog that was rendered, and so the user when returned to the feed is positioned at 700px, not 1000px.
You can also see attached a console log of router.events instanceof Scroll. In that example the blog post was 835.5px in height and the difference between the scroll positions in the log between the same 2 blog visits and back buttons was 834px.
The obvious result here would be to have the feed return to where it was left regardless of the size of a blog.
Is there anything I should be aware of when using the below? Or any insight anyone can give me as to why this could be happening?
Many thanks.
Custom Scroll Restore
export class AppModule { constructor(router: Router, viewportScroller: ViewportScroller) { router.events .pipe(filter((e): e is Scroll => e instanceof Scroll)) .subscribe((e) => { console.log(e); console.log(router); if (e.position) { viewportScroller.scrollToPosition([0, e.position[1]]); } }); } }
Custom RouteReuseStartegy
import { RouteReuseStrategy, DetachedRouteHandle, ActivatedRouteSnapshot, } from '@angularouter'; import { Injectable } from '@angulacore'; @Injectable() export class CustomRouteReuseStrategy implements RouteReuseStrategy { private handlers: { [key: string]: RootHandler } = {}; shouldDetach(route: ActivatedRouteSnapshot): boolean { return this.isDetachable(route); } store(route: ActivatedRouteSnapshot, handler: DetachedRouteHandle) { const storeKey = this.getResolvedUrl(route); if (handler) { const rootHandler = { handle: handler }; this.handlers[storeKey] = rootHandler; } } shouldAttach(route: ActivatedRouteSnapshot): boolean { const storeKey = this.getResolvedUrl(route); if (this.isAtachable(route, storeKey)) { return true; } return false; } retrieve(route: ActivatedRouteSnapshot): DetachedRouteHandle { const storeKey = this.getResolvedUrl(route); return this.handlers[storeKey]?.handle; } shouldReuseRoute( future: ActivatedRouteSnapshot, current: ActivatedRouteSnapshot ): boolean { return future.routeConfig === current.routeConfig; } private getResolvedUrl(route: ActivatedRouteSnapshot): string { return route.pathFromRoot .map((v) => v.url.map((segment) => segment.toString()).join('/')) .join('/'); } private getStoreKey(route: ActivatedRouteSnapshot): string { const baseUrl = this.getResolvedUrl(route); const childrenParts = []; let deepestChild = route; while (deepestChild.firstChild) { deepestChild = deepestChild.firstChild; childrenParts.push(deepestChild.url.join('/')); } return baseUrl + '////' + childrenParts.join('/'); } private isDetachable(route: ActivatedRouteSnapshot) { if (route?.routeConfig?.data?.shouldDetach) { return true; } return false; } private isAtachable(route: ActivatedRouteSnapshot, storeKey: string) { if (this.isDetachable(route) && this.handlers[storeKey]?.handle) { return true; } return false; } } export interface RootHandler { handle: DetachedRouteHandle; }

2021.12.01 17:47 Kahtoorrein My girl finally went into her crate all on her own!

Today, my dog stepped into her crate and hung out there for the very first time!
This morning I was raising the blinds in my office's window seat, and she always jumps up and looks outside as soon as I start raising them. Today I was accidentally blocking her access to jump up onto the window seat, so she couldn't get up or see around me. But her crate sits directly in front of her bed on the window seat, so she darted in there and stood in her crate looking out the window. I was so surprised when she did it! Once she realized she was in the crate (which is when I said something to her), she decided that she was stuck in there and started giving me "Help me!" looks. I gestured to the open door and she flew right out!
It was only a few seconds, but I feel like we've really hit a milestone here! Getting her to trust the crate as a safe space has been a huge battle. I believe her previous owners used it as a punishment. When I first got her, she would go straight in if you asked her, but with a tucked tail and scared expression. Then she would huddle up as small as she could in the back corner, and just watch you like she was waiting for you to do something mean. Over time, when she realized I wasn't going to forcefully put her in the crate, she started refusing to go in, unless you grabbed her collar. Then she would walk in without you pushing.
The trainer I worked with recommended feeding her in it, so she would associate it with good things, so I put her breakfast in there every day. She just straight up refused to eat. She definitely viewed it as a trick to get her to go inside. She would wait all the way into late afternoon while I was working, then sneak her head in and get a little at a time. Eventually I stopped doing that because it just stressed her out so much. I eventually stopped crate training, and just quit using it altogether. She got to the point where she would stick her head in to get water from the bowl in there, but otherwise ignored it. I think this period made her much more comfortable with the crate, because it wasn't a source of stress anymore.
When I started crate training up again, I followed a TikTok I found and got her to go inside. She got a piece of steak at the back, a piece of steak in the front, and then got to come right back out. I used that to teach her to go into her crate whenever I said "Crate", and then stay there, even with the door open, until I said "Free". She got so much steak as a reward each time, so she loved this training, and has the command down really well now!
But I want the crate not just to be a place she goes to when commanded, but also just a safe space she can hang out in. This is the first bit of interest she's showed in being in it, and although I don't think she sees it as a comfy hangout spot yet, I think this is big progress in her seeing it as safe! She did seem to think she was stuck in there, so either she still needs some more time to feel safe, or I need to teach her that the "Free" command only applies when I asked her to go inside first. But I think this is important progress!!

2021.12.01 17:47 sluggyshea Turkey gizzard and throat?

So, for thanksgiving, my boyfriends grandmother graciously saved us the gizzard and throat of the turkey for us (uncooked and unseasoned, of course). I sort of assumed BTS would be able to eat them, but not 100% sure. Is that something that they can/should eat?

2021.12.01 17:47 Nearby-Ad-3611 I'm pretty sure I have adhd, the problem is, I'm not diagnosed and don't know how to tell my parent

I'm young, and still go to secondary/high school, I have many symptoms of adhd: terrible attention span, can't sit and or stand still and always feel like I need to just go. My mom has once briefly said I am a bit 'adhdy' (Ik this is terrible terminology but I felt this was the best way to show the sort of this she said). I have very good grades and my teachers say I'm smart I just get distracted as well as distract.
Idk how to ask my parents if I can try and get diagnosed for adhd or go to someone about my adhd speculation.
Every comment is appreciated :) <3
[Though I should add, I have many friend with adhd who think I have tge same sort of behavioural issues as them]

2021.12.01 17:47 niceguycoach How do I know if I'm being my authentic self?

By being honest with people about your needs and boundaries.
Nice Guys are typically bad at this. They lie a lot to stay in people's good favor.
If you're not being authentic, it means that you're hiding something about yourself.
It's about being congruent. That means your feelings match your nonverbal communication.
So if you're feeling anxious, then you're okay with being vulnerable AND okay with other people knowing that you have anxiety.
If you're embarrassed about being anxious, you may be trying to push down the anxiety and cover it up with your nonverbal communication.
That is inauthentic because you're covering up your actual feelings.
You can choose to be honest.
Do you agree or disagree?

Head over to NiceGuyDiscord.com to connect with other guys there, too.
